Breed History
The Welsh Harlequin is a light-weight duck breed. Group Captain Leslie Bonnet, in Hertfordshire discovered a colour mutation among his Khaki Campbells and when he moved to Cricieth, north west Wales he created the ‘Welsh Harlequins’. His flock was founded by two specimens and in 1968, eggs were sent to countries like the United States of America.

The Welsh Harlequins were saved from extinction by Edward Grayson from Lancashire who had ducks from Bonnet strain.

Hanes y Brid
Mae’r Harlequin Cymreig yn frîd hwyaden ysgafn. Yn 1949, gwnaeth Group Captain Leslie Bonnet, o Swydd Hertford ddarganfod lliw gwahanol ymysg ei Khaki Campbells a phan symudodd i Gricieth, gogledd-orllewin Cymru i fyw, creodd yr ‘Harlequin Cymreig’. Cafodd ei haid ei sefydlu gan ddau sbesimen. ac erbyn 1968, roedd yn gwerthu wyau i wledydd fel yr Unol Daleithiau o America.

Er hynny, cafodd hwyaid Harlequin Cymreig eu hachub gan Edward Grayson, o Sir Gaerhirfryn oedd gyda hwyaid o straen Bonnet.
